Pokemon Red & Blue are a pair of games released by Nintendo for the Game Boy in 1998. They were first released in Japan as Pokemon Red & Green in 1996 and then Pokemon Blue was released later that year. They started the Pokemon franchise which is one of the most popular video game franchises of all time.
Gameplay[]
Pokemon Red & Blue are RPG's were you play as a young trainer and catch Pokemon so you can be a Pokemon master. You battle the 8 Gym Leaders and the Elite 4 on your quest to become the Champion of the Pokemon League as well as battling Team Rocket, a gang of criminals.

In 1998 in Japan, Pokemon Yellow was released and it was released worldwide a year later. It was a re-release of Pokemon Red & Blue with features based on the Pokemon Anime such as having a Pikachu as your starter Pokemon.

Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen were released in 2004 for the GBA. They are remakes of the original 2 games with features from Pokemon Gold & Silver and Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire. They can battle and trade with Ruby and Sapphire and are part of the third generation of Pokemon.

Johnny reviewed all 3 of the original games released outside of Japan during Month of Pokemon. He liked the games but stated he preferred the newer games and that these games haven't aged well. He also did a video of Yellow's Surfing Pikachu minigame.

Johnny, Elliot and Matt have let's played the first generation (the Red version to be exact) and are planning to do the second generation at the end of "The Summer of 2's".
