Sonic R is a racing/platforming game released for the Sega Saturn by Sega. It is the only original Sonic game on the Saturn. The game was later ported to the PC, and appeared on the Sonic Gems Collection for the Nintendo GameCube.

With the launch of a new system, Sega knew it would only be a matter of time until fans demanded a Sonic game. With Sonic X-treme cancelled, Sonic R was hastily produced to avoid a rage from fans. The game received mixed to negative reviews, with compliments spawning for the graphics and presentation, but overall gameplay was bashed for being clunky and unresponsive input.

Johnny made a two part Month of Sonic starring this game and Sonic & the Black Knight. Johnny gave the game a mixed review, stating that overall it wasn't bad, but maneuverability was criticised for turning like a tank. This game marked the first appearance of the Tails Doll's true form (a character that made his only video game appearance in Sonic R). This game got a 6.5/10.
