200px-Sonic Genesis GBA

Something you shouldn't play.

Sonic Genesis was a port of the Genesis classic released during the 15th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, alongside Sonic Riders and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). It was a financial and critical failiure, with many people considering it the worst Sonic game of all time.

InfoEdit

With Sonic Riders not really receiving the amount of positive reception Sega wanted for a 15th anniversary title, and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) receiving negative responses, Sega hastily slapped on a port of Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) on the Gameboy Adavance. What we got are summed in these words: Screen Crunch, Slow Down, and Audio glitches. And you know what that means, Sonic Genesis was a shock to the fans, and a reason for Nintendo to laugh at their arch rivals.

The gameplay is identical to the Genesis classic. With technical difficulties pushed aside, there is an added save feature, and a "Anniversary Mode", where Sonic has the spindash, which performs like it did in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Because the game was built on the Sonic Advance engine, the physics are off, so certain level segmants could be different interface-wise because of this.

Like mentioned, the game had many technical flaws, of which spawned the negative results. Fans later questioned how the flaws existed, as the Gameboy Advance was eons ahead of the Genesis. It was later revealed and confirmed that because Sega was rushing yet another game, Sonic the Hedgehog was hastily ported on the Sonic Advance engine, which was completely and utterly inferior towards the original. A fan named Stealth later ported Sonic the Hedgehog onto the Gameboy Advance, showing that Sega could easily have done so as well.

SomecallmeJohnnyEdit

Johnny was possessed by the Sonic Hat sometime, which prompted him to review Sonic Genesis, but using a emulator on his Wii. But as Johnny progressed through the game, the sheer badness of the game broke the Sonic Hat's possession over Johnny, and Johnny seemingly destroyed the Sonic Hat, with assistance from Elliot. Johnny then proceeded to bash the game for every reason he can find, before concluding he wouldn't give it a score, as it probably didn't deserve one.

BrainscratchcommsEdit

The Brainscratchcomms crew did an entire 5 part commentary on the game, where it was revealed that Johnny despised this game more than any other Sonic game. Humorously, Ted was forced to take Advil after part 1 due to headaches.

SGBLikesToPlayEdit

Johnny revealed that he attempted to LP this game during the BSC commentary over this game. He stated that he rage quited in Labyrinth Zone.
