The Sega Genesis was eating Nintendo's market share with classic hits like Altered Beast and Sonic the Hedgehog, so Nintendo decided to fight back with a sequel to the astounding Super Mario Bros. 3. Considered Super Mario Bros. 4, Super Mario World was a launch title for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and while it helped the Super Nintendo raise sales, it also attracted astronomical praises, awards, and critical acclaim from reviewers.
Johnny reviewed this game in his Month of Mario. As the final edition, Johnny ranked the game a 9.5/10, his favorite 2-D Mario game up to date and one of the best Mario games of all time.
On the SGBlikestoplay, Johnny performed a full Let's Play on the game.
